Reasons Why the World Would Not Run Without the Use of Custom Resistors
Undoubtedly, the world wouldn’t be as liveable as it is now if electricity wasn’t invented. Important results of the innovation of electricity such as lighting and heating have all made the world as much livable as possible. Electrical energy flows in a circuit by the use of conductors. More often than not, there is of a necessity a need to inhibit the free flow of electricity through conductors so that certain results can be obtained. Blocking of the flow of electrical energy in circuits requires the use of circuital components commonly known as resistors. What then do resistors accomplish when they are wired in any circuit?
One of the most important applications of resistors is in the aid of enforcing controls of certain circuits so that the results of those circuits can be determined. Normally, resistors are categorized into two- the fixed value and the varying valued resistors. In variable valued resistors, the amount of resistance that is obtained from these components can be increased or decreased according to the needs of a circuit. Accordingly, the outputs of the circuit are affected based on the variations set on the amount of resistance. A example in real life use case is when resistors are used to punctuate the loudness of the sound produced by an amplifier.
The second thing to note is that custom resistors can also be employed for heating purposes. In normal cases, resistors work by generating a lot of heat. Electricity can thus be converted into heat by the use of resistors. This heat that is converted in this way is first of all seen in electric bulbs which are used for lighting our premises. One of the commonest applications of this mechanism is also seen in electrical heating devices.
More than that, resistors are also useful in the formation of what is called voltage division in an electrical circuit. A voltage divider is essentially created when a chain of custom resistors are joined in a series connection to form a daisy chain. This application works on the premise that if all the resistors in a chain are of the same value, then the amount of voltage at each resistor will be equal. When the values differ, the voltage will also vary. In the end, various values of voltages are produced for the same connection despite the fact that the mains voltage is higher than the voltage at the resistors.
Finally, LEDs and transistors won’t work if there were no resistors. These two components will never function in the event where there is too high or too low amounts of electrical currencies passed through them. Due to this, the devices can only work when resistors of the right value are used together with them.
